Rider Development Plans

Here at GreenWheel Cycles we’re passionate about developing riders to achieve their full potential. Using tried and tested techniques gained over years of applied sport development in both bike fitting and training. Understanding that learning and applying correct technique to your riding will outweigh any coaching plan predominantly aimed at increasing power.

We’re looking to achieve a safer, more experienced and higher standard of riding within the Peterborough area that inspires riders to chase their personal goals. If this intrigues you please take a read of the following where our training plans and packages are briefly described.

There will be an initial induction fee of £49.99 to determine your current form and potential ability; this will include an FTP test (20 minute power test.)

There is no minimum sign up period so you can use our services for as long or as short a time as you like. With 30 days’ notice you may come and go as you wish without cancellation fees or any hidden charges.

Rider Development Plans

This beginners training plan is designed and aimed towards riders new to road cycling or looking to improve their riding ability and structure within the sport.
The plan incorporates a selection of sessions ensuring your weekly hours are no greater than 6 hours and flexible to fit around work, family and social commitments.
Sessions will be a combination of turbo and road rides focusing on specific components of road cycling that will aid your rider development over the winter months.
Within this training plan you will receive a TrainingPeaks premium account worth £15 per month, allowing you to analyse your data at home free of charge.
A power meter is recommended, however heartrate can be used to judge form, pace sessions and gauge development.
Second to the plan, you will be presented with a flexibility plan to aid your development in cycling, this will require no more than 40 minutes a week.

Price per month: £60

This intermediate training plan is designed and aimed towards riders completing solo rides of 18mph plus, looking to add structure to their current training, developing form and ability throughout the winter months.
The plan incorporates a selection of turbo and road sessions averaging 7 hours a week of training. The plan is flexible enough to fit around work, family and social commitments but does require commitment and consistency if you are to benefit fully from the sessions.
Within this training plan you will receive a TrainingPeaks premium account worth £15 per month, allowing you to analyse your data at home free of charge.
A power meter is highly recommended, heart rate can be used to determine form and development but will not be accurate enough to gauge intensity during intervals.
Second to the plan, you will be presented with a flexibility and core stability plan to aid your development in cycling, this will require no more than 1 hour 15 minutes a week.

Price per month: £60

This advanced training plan is designed and aimed towards riders experienced in road cycling looking to develop their form throughout the winter allowing them to ride competitively in both training and potentially racing.
The plan incorporates a selection of turbo and road sessions averaging 7 hours a week of training. Although the plan is flexible, the sessions require total commitment and consistent dedication both on and off the bike to yield the results you’re capable of.
Within this training plan you will receive a TrainingPeaks premium account worth £15 per month, allowing you to analyse your data at home free of charge.
You are required to train using power allowing us to analyse and set your training accurately throughout the duration of the plan.
Second to the plan, you will be presented with a flexibility and core stability plan to aid your development in cycling, this will require no more than 1 hour 30 minutes a week.

Price per month: £60

This is a plan that is designed to teach you what nutrition is required to train, race or compete within cycling. Food in its rawest form is a source of fuel and we will teach you how to use both macro and micro nutrients to supply your body with the fuel required to perform training sessions at their optimal.

This will both increase your rate of performance gain as well as increase your potential ability in the sport. Cycling is a power to weight based sport, and losing weight can be both easier and quicker to increase your w/kg.

It will take a mind set change to see results, but we’ll explain ways to make these changes sustainable and positive within daily life.
We will build into your training plan a nutritional plan to suit your individual sessions allowing us to monitor weight throughout this winter. What and when you should be eating on and off the bike is what we will both educate you on and introduce into your daily routine.

This is guaranteed to make cycling more positive knowing there won’t be the pressure to lose weight during the 2018 season.

Price per month: £15

This is a package that will incorporate a 2 hour 1:1 training ride with Charlie or Dan focusing on developing a component in cycling that we have identified needs improvement. It is a session that is fully customisable to suit your own goals and can include intervals, technique drills, improvement in form, bike handling, etc.

We will discuss how we can utilise the 2 hours most effectively. This will result in a pre-ride brief followed by the session, concluding with a de-brief session back in store discussing what we’ve achieved on the ride and how we can apply this into the future of your cycling.

Price per month: £60 – includes discount of £40 off GWC 1:1 training ride, every month.

This is a package that will focus on predominantly increasing your functional threshold power, increasing your ability across a wide range of components within cycling. The plan will include an FTP test in store where we can monitor your developments and accurately manipulate your training to extract the maximum performance gain this winter. These will be carried out in 5 week intervals.

Within the package we will analyse your pedal stroke, form and composure on the bike, allowing us to adapt your current plan to increase the benefit of your winter training.

This type of training is very psychologically demanding yet still sustainable; the speed of improvement will be a guaranteed surprise.

Price per month: £15

Note: There is no difference in charge between plans. Current and potential form will determine what plan you are subject to, we will of course advise what is most suitable for your individual goals.
