So after seeing a newcomer to the dropped handlebar world the Gravel Bike has now found its place in the cycling world. This do it all multipurpose bike has evolved over the last few years to become the new must have N+1 in the garage. Originally the Gravel bike was a blend of a cyclocross bike and a hybrid thrown together to tick a new box in cycling. The Gravel bike has now become more and more refined so it does exactly what it says on the tin and more;
- Lightweight frame, aluminium and carbon
- Relaxed sportive geometry
- Low gear ratios
- Mud guard clearance
- Tyre sizes from 25mm to 40mm giving speed and comfort
- Option to fit 650b MTB wheels with 2″ tyres
- Rack lugs front and rear making it ready for touring
The UK market has been crying out for a single bike with all the above and now its here. A lightweight road bike that can be used as a summer/winter and touring bike with lugs and mudguards that isn’t a cyclocross bike with race geometry but a super comfy bike with a relaxed sportive riding position that’s able to ride off and on road. At the click of a finger using the 12mm thru axles you can drop in some spare wheels or a prompt tyre change and your bike is ready to hit the real muddy stuff or even trying a bit of cyclocross. Gravel tracks and muddy fields nothing will be able to hold back this versatile bike from going anywhere which is why it has also been given the “Adventure Bike” name.
Gravel/adventure sportives have already hit British cyclings calendar and are soon to be massive. Make sure you don’t miss out on this new exciting side to cycling but this time you don’t need 3 different bikes, just the one. GreenWheel Cycles will soon be hosting Adventure rides from the shop alongside our already very popular road rides. Keep your eyes peeled for updates.
